Green Media News sat down with Jim Collins, CEO and Founder of Rewards.Earth, to learn more about how they are planting trees to offset personal carbon emissions footprint we will achieve our net zero target by 2030.

Jim, thank you for being here. Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

After 13 years in The Royal Nay I was was medically discharge due to a sporting injury, I returned to my hometown in the North of England but struggled to resettle. After 4 years and a few failed ventures I landed a job at Vodafone and have since held senior roles at Sky UK and Manchester Airport Group. I was made redundant in September 2020 as a direct result of Covid 19 and that is when I reconnected with some of my old Royal Navy Rugby League teammates network and found my purpose, helping veterans on their transition from the military and the environment.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have four daughters and two dogs ‘Vic and Bob’ (named after my favourite comedy duo) who help redress the male imbalance in the household.

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Climate change and sustainability is so important today because if we don’t take action now we are setting ourselves up for a bleak future. We live in a world where we are inundated with data and facts and can readily measure the impact we have on the planet and forecast the future, therefore we can take positive action to minimise our impact and create a better future for all.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

The industry must be intuitive, easy to use, low cost and high impact. We owe it to our customers to enhance their lives and give back to nature in a frictionless way and make it part of their everyday lives.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

The first step is be aware, the second a most important is to take action. Positive action.

Jim, thank you for sharing how we can be planting trees to offset personal carbon emissions.
