This week, we had the opportunity to connect with Gabriela Herculano, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder at iClima Earth. By investing in companies that are committed to decarbonization, iClima is leading the way in ESG investments and setting sustainability standards.
We are honored to have Gabriela as our Person of the Week, representing a voice in Environmental Social Governance and Sustainability. Let’s get to know this CEO!
Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I am the CEO and Co-Founder of iClima. I am a finance professional with a background in renewable energy; we began iClima Earth as an impact green FinTech. We dedicate our time to looking for the companies that prevent damaging emissions from ever being made. We want to redefine climate change investments by focusing on the companies that can decarbonise the planet.
We believe that “climate champions” can transition the world to carbon neutrality.
What is a fun fact about you?
I grew up in Brazil and spent more years abroad than in my own country! I have 3 kids that could be citizens of 5 different countries (between where they were born and the parents).
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
As Obama said, we are the last generation that can mitigate climate change. We have the solutions in place. We need to scale them up and invest on what matters.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
We are seeing key technologies converging and transforming huge industries like energy and transportation. All of these solutions decarbonize and are deflationary. The world 10 years from now will have cut our emissions by 1/2 and will have redefined key products. For example, cars will be computerized power plants on wheels. Most of the homes in US and EU will be “prosumers”, producing and using electricity at the point of consumption.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Vote right and engage.
