Amy Burr, the President of JetBlue Technology Ventures

Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am the President of JetBlue Technology Ventures (JTV), the venture capital arm of JetBlue Airways. As President, I shape the strategic venture investment direction of JetBlue and facilitates integration of successful startup programs into the airline’s overall corporate innovation initiatives.

I have been with JTV since 2018 as the Managing Director of Operations and Partnerships, where I built an ecosystem of partners and deployment opportunities for the many technologies of JTV’s portfolio companies. Prior to JTV, I led the Virgin America merger with Alaska Airlines. I earned my MBA from Moore School of Business at University of South Carolina.

What is a fun fact about you?

I’ve completed 50+ triathlons in my life!

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

At this stage in the world’s development, we’re at a critical juncture to address climate change now so that our planet continues to thrive for generations to come.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

As a corporate venture capital firm for JetBlue Airways, we invest technologies that help the airline chart a path towards its net-zero goals. In ten years I hope to see the venture capital industry funding even more of these promising climate tech startups so that we can further all sustainability goals in our industry and others.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

I personally believe that the average person can make a difference, even through small steps. Cutting out single-use plastics or reducing drive time can add up to make a larger impact!

Amy, thank you for joining us and discussing how JetBlue how is investing in startups that are improving the future of travel.
