Inspiring Action on Global Issues Through Film

Green Media News sat down with Greg Reitman, the founder of the Blue Water Film Festival. Blue Water Film Festival uses the power of imagination, film, art and innovation to inspire audiences to thrust them into action on global issues.

Greg, thanks for being here. Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am a New York native who graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and founder of the Blue Water Film Festival. I am an active member of the Director’s Guild of America, Int’l Marketing Assn, Documentary Producers Alliance, Int’l Documentary Assn and a former adjunct professor at NYU-Tisch. I was described by Movie Maker Magazine as “one of the top ten filmmakers producing content that impacts our world”.

My production company, Blue Water Entertainment, focuses on environmentally conscious broad-based entertainment. Along with my background in production and distribution, my passion for philanthropy strengthens the BWFF team’s commitment to using film to serve the greater good.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love trees and scuba diving, and to connect with people.

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Because the health of our planet is linked to the health of ourselves… we are intrically connected and need to begin to reclaim our truth

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

More inclusive, more VIP, more connected via technology

What can the average person do to make a difference?

Be kind and gentle; respect others, and do service for 6 months.
