Green Media News partnered with Green Jobs Board to bring the world open job positions in renewable energy, cleantech, and sustainability. We sat down with the founder of Green Jobs Board, Kristy Drutman, to learn how she launched Green Jobs Board and her vision for a sustainable future.
Kristy, thanks for being here. Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I am a media host, content strategist, speaker, and DEI consultant in the climate/ environmental field. I studied urban planning and environmental policy at UC Berkeley, and then went on to build my own media platform called Brown Girl Green, which is focused on bringing environmental education to broader audiences.
As an entrepreneur, I am always looking at ways on how to use storytelling to bridge gaps around environmental consciousness and information sharing. This led me to co-founding the Green Jobs Board, an online platform bridging the gap for folks wanting to enter the green economy and to build careers in this field.
What is a fun fact about you?
I have survived multiple near death accidents.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
It is a timely, existential issue that is/ will impact the course of human history. The most marginalized communities on this planet are already being impacted by the climate crisis making it an ethical and moral imperative that everyone gets involved ASAP, especially those with the privilege and means to redistribute and support grassroots resilience.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
Hopefully an economically and environmentally thriving industry that gives people good paying jobs that protect people and the planet.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Donate/ support grassroots organizations fighting for environmental justice in their communities, not buying into fast fashion/ fast consumption culture, and to educate others about the issues happening in the world.
