Foodie Box Group was incorporated in 2016 as a venture builder in food, technology and social enterprise; it has since diversified into several industries including food and beverage and nanotechnology. Foodie Box Group received the award for Most Innovative Food Packaging Manufacturer in Malaysia from Asia-Pacific Business Awards 2020 and the Most Innovative Food Tech Startup in Malaysia in Global Excellence Awards 2021.
Let’s learn a bit more about Jimmy, and how they Foodie Box keeps the food industry sustainable:
Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I’m a venture builder and humanitarian who have mentored 56 startups globally. I’m the CEO of Foodie Box Group which a venture builder in food, technology and social enterprise. We have diversified into several industries including food and beverage and nanotechnology.
Foodie Box provides Healthy-Delicious Convenience Food (HDCF) to consumers and plans to disrupt all facets of food production (i.e. water, energy, packaging, distribution, and livelihood of food producers). The company aims to be the market leader for sustainable production of food with renewable resources. Foodie Box also aim to be the global leader to address world hunger and empower the poor and refugees through suspended meals, education and training.
What is a fun fact about you?
When my first startup failed and I needed cash desperately to pay off my debts, I met a stranger at Starbucks who offered the money that I needed if I can solve a riddle. I solved the riddle and got more money than expected!
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Climate change and sustainability is a very important topic as it affects everyone on a global scale. Unless we shift our priorities and change our lifestyles, things are about to get worst. Besides, sustainability is our shared responsibility as citizens of the world.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
The future is bright as know the issues at hand and everyone – governments, startups, investors and ordinary people are moving in the same direction to make the world a much better place than we leave it. Foodie Box Group is planning to launch its own venture fund soon to create sustainable civil society by empowering visionaries to drive positive social impact through disruptive technological solutions for the community.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
As people of the world, look for common values and shared beliefs. Use those values and shared beliefs and work towards a better future for everyone. Pay it forward, always.
