Green.Org recently had the chance to connect with Paul Nijssen, Founder and President at EVCHARGE4U, a leader in commercial & residential electric vehicle charging stations. Join us as we learn a bit more about Paul and his reasons for leading the charge in the EV revolution.
Tell us a little bit about you, your background, and your current role:
I arrived in the USA from Enschede, Netherlands, seeking a new challenge after progressing in the Dutch Market. While here, I started over at the bottom as an installer and started working my way up. I soon came to the conclusion I wanted to do things differently, and in 2011, I started out on my own. But still, I found myself again looking for a new challenge, and installing charging stations for the electric cars that were just coming into the marketplace seemed like the perfect fit. Everyone thought I was crazy, but that did not deter me, and in 2016 I founded my company EVCHARGE4U Inc. I remain down to earth, working in the field with my team on projects, collaborating with them for new and innovative ideas. With over 30+ years of industry-leading electrical experience, my expertise and ability to troubleshoot any project have helped countless homes and businesses find safe, efficient, and durable Electric Vehicle Charging solutions.
What is a fun fact about you?
I love to scuba dive in Belize.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
For years Governments all over the world were thinking about themselves and the lobbyists who paid them. Lowering Greenhouse gas emissions from individuals and industry is paramount to getting the earth back to normal. The wealthiest countries in the world need to stand up and do something about it. The loss of jobs is a red herring. It's time we retrain folks to the trades that will help move the green agenda forward. It will improve their lives and the world.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
I envision former gas stations converted to EV charging station destinations. Expansion to Local and State Government funding programs to increase access and adoption of EVs.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Don’t idle your gasoline car, truck or bus. The emissions pollute everybody around you. While waiting in the drive thru or to drop off a delivery, it’s better to turn off the engine and restart it when it’s time to move. This simple step could help save our planet.
