Innovative hydrogen technologies reduce black carbon emissions and help create a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Green.Org is constantly on the hunt for the most ambitious leaders in the cleantech and renewable energy space. We search around the world for scientists, CEOs, and experts who work day in and day out to build a more sustainable future. When we came across HNO International, and their Chairman, Don Owens, we realized we needed to sit down with them and share their story. They have worked tirelessly to bring the world clean, affordable, reliable hydrogen energy, and are ready to roll it out on an international scale.

Who Is HNO International?

HNO International, Inc. is a hydrogen energy company that specializes in reducing black carbon emissions, improving fuel economy, and producing breathable oxygen for the planet. They have meticulously developed their patented LeefH2® Hydrogen Generator System to enable the first ever mass-producible Smart Hydrogen System. Imagine our world filled with oxygen-producing vehicles, producing billions of tons of breathable oxygen, cooling our planet. Their goal is to bridge the gap toward a 100% clean energy future.

Let’s get to know Don Owens – The CEO of HNO International. Don, thank you for being here. Tell us a little bit about you.

I am a leading expert in hydrogen energy technologies. I have dedicated the last decade to creating a customized hydrogen generator system that is broadly applicable for combustion engines and virtually everything that burns fuel, the LeefH2® Hydrogen Generator System, securing 19 patents. We have personally tested and verified our technology in laboratories approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Previously, I was CEO of Business Internet Systems (BIS). In the late 2000s, I launched a first-of-a-kind online platform that serviced the major business card printing needs of the US Congress, Branches of The Executive Office, and The Department of State. I also spearheaded early web and networked database optimization for massive clients such as the US Census Bureau. I began my career as a patent attorney for Western Electric and Bell Labs after attaining my law degree from Georgetown University. I received an engineering degree at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University).

What is a fun fact about you?

I think I am the first person on earth to recognize Black Carbon as the Enemy of the Planet because of its unique devastating climate change impact, and I have accidentally developed a RIGHT NOW solution that can be implemented right now to help.

Where do you see your industry going in ten years?

Our Smart Hydrogen Systems that we have developed are the transition between how we produce energy today (fossil fuels) and the way we will produce energy in the future (hydrogen). Hydrogen is a clean virtually unlimited source of energy, but the technology for making it the major source of energy does not exist today. I see our technology and technologies like ours as being the doorway to using hydrogen as a clean energy source and a clean energy future. Granted a doorway that is still very far off, but a viable doorway. Meanwhile, our LeefH2® Hydrogen Generator Systems can be used today in the millions/billions of fossil fuel applications to reduce and eliminate black carbon.

What can the average person do to get involved?

Right now, the key is KNOWLEDGE. Most people have never heard of Black Carbon and so consequently, they have no idea of its devastating effects on the climate and the Planet. The unfortunate truth about Black Carbon must be spread throughout the entire globe. Once the effects of Black Carbon are in the minds of all human beings, we collectively can organize and fight against it. This is a war that all of humanity must participate in, if even in the smallest way of getting educated about it.Once you educate yourself about Black Carbon, You (and me) must tell everyone else about it.It’s impossible to fight an enemy if you don’t know what it is. Once all of humanity knows of at least one way to fight Black Carbon, multiple ways of fighting can be developed until the enemy is defeated.Best.

Don, thank you for being here. Be sure to listen to Don Owens On The Green Podcast.

Don Owens was featured on The Green Podcast. Don’s biggest takeaway was the power of educating yourself about climate change, specifically Black Carbon. Black Carbon is 1500 times worse than CO2, and Don has seen first hand its negative effects.
