At Green, we understand the importance of looking at our environmental problems from a holistic perspective – we look at the big picture. Climate destabilization includes challenges such as food scarcity, energy inequity, pollution problems, and dwindling natural resources, including water.
In a past article, we took a look at the importance of atmospheric water generation and the role it will play in the future of water equity. This week, we had the chance to connect with Alexander von Welczeck, Chairman & President of impact start-up SkyH2O, a water technology, products, and services business that is built upon unique and proven AWG systems.
Before we go into the technical details of AWG, let’s learn about SkyH20!
First, let’s get to know Alexander of SkyH20
Alexander is an impact entrepreneur in the Climate Technology & Renewables industries since 2005. As an industry leader, he works Globally with Impact and ESG investors, strategic enterprises, and associations to accelerate the sustainability revolution. He enjoys a 30-year track-record at finding, developing and managing technology-based businesses that are turning Grey to Blue-Green Infrastructure…in balance with nature!
What is a fun fact about you?
I have transacted business in 22 different countries.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Climate change is the single greatest threat to humanity, and the world as we currently know it.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
Atmospheric water generation (“AWG”) is a young, new industry in it’s infancy, but will rapidly grow to a multi billion industry within the next 5 years. AWG is possibly the most effective and sustainable solution to combat water stress.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Modify ones lifestyle. Lower your carbon footprint. Live in balance with nature.
Atmospheric Water Generation (or AWG) is the ability to collect water vapor from the air and condense it to produce drinkable water. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods, including cooling and desiccation to more primitive methods, like air wells and fog nets. The different methods you use depend on what scale you require; at SkyH20, the technology is fit for industrial scales.
As we look towards the future, we hope readers can gain a deeper understanding of the problems we face by realizing the purpose for why innovative, clean technology is becoming more mainstream. We hope readers will make the right decisions when it comes to being water smart, and adopt some of Alexander’s advice: Modify ones lifestyle. Lower your carbon footprint. Live in balance with nature.
